Food Non Profit Organizations Are Working With Some School Districts

Stepping Stone homeless shelter in Anoka depends closely on faculty district meal donations. “I might say about 50% of our meals come from the colleges,” stated Julie Jeppson, government director of Stepping Stone.

However, with college students not in buildings, they’ve seen a decline. “To complement these faculty donations (or eating places donations) we now should buy, so that could be actually large ticket merchandise,” she explains. College districts across the state are offering free meals to any scholar throughout distance studying. And in some districts, families are gobbling up these meals.

Different districts like Osseo Maple Grove stated it does “not have leftover meals” and that the number of meals made and distributed is “pretty constant from each day.” South Washington County School District stated as a public entity, it “can’t make non-public donations.” The district added that it “is using all its meals.”

Stepping Stone has now launched a new initiative. “We instantly put up a marketing campaign for meal donations, both the place the group might donate meals or donate for us to buy meals,” Jeppson stated. They’re hopeful the group will assist the 66 residents counting on them throughout this well being pandemic.
